THE BERC GROUP
The BERC Group is an independent evaluation, research, and consulting firm focused on
putting research into practice. BERC Group associates are education professionals with
K-20 experience as teachers, psychologists, professors and administrators. We gather and
analyze data (Evaluation). We help organizations understand the data in the context of
effective practices (Research). We provide guidance in how to use the data to promote and
support reform/change efforts (Consulting).
The BERC Group provides an experienced third-party perspective to the school improvement process.
We inform educators with in-depth, formative and summative data collection and
inspire with engaging personal presentations and multimedia report packages. The BERC Group
invests in its clients and walks beside them.

Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI). The primary agency charged with
overseeing K-12 education in Washington state. Led by State School Superintendent Randy Dorn,
OSPI works with the state’s 295 school districts to administer basic education programs and
implement education reform on behalf of more than one million public school students. OSPI is
housed in the Old Capitol Building in Olympia.

National Student Clearinghouse (NSC). A non-profit organization founded by the higher education
community, streamlines the student record verification process for colleges and universities,
high schools and high school districts, students and alumni, lending institutions, employers,
the U.S. Department of Education and other organizations. The Clearinghouse maintains a
comprehensive electronic registry of student records that provides a single, automated
point-of-contact for organizations and individuals requiring timely, accurate verification of
student enrollment, degree, and loan data.
More than 3,300 colleges, enrolling 92% of US college students, and hundreds of high school
districts nationwide participate in the Clearinghouse. Student loan providers, employers,
student credit issuers, student health insurance providers, the federal government and others
access the Clearinghouse's registry over 100 million times annually to conduct electronic student
record verifications.
